Good Hair contains vital nutrients hair uses to create strong and healthy hair growth and is a unique blend of over 20 carefully selected essential vitamins, minerals and herbs, included at optimum active levels and blends. Good Hair works in three main ways:

  1. It comprises vital nutrients your body uses to create 'good hair'.
  2. It contains 'DHT blockers', included to help decrease your sensitivity to DHT, a key cause of male pattern baldness or androgenic alopecia.  
  3. The anti-androgenics in Good Hair work to keep the hair in the growing, anagen phase which means far less shedding.

Hair loss or thinning is always an indication of processes in the body breaking down or not working so well, so there are always several things you can do to take action and get great results from your nutritional supplementation. It is widely reported that the main cause of the increasing incidence of hair thinning is the modern diet, high use of pharmaceuticals and stressful lives. New evidence suggests that the resulting lack of good digestive bacteria flora and an acidic system are two key causes of the increase in sensitivity to DHT, a derivative of testosterone which shrinks the hair until it disappears. These reports state that taking a good quality, multi-strain pro-biotic is essential to decrease DHT’s power over your hair and to ensure your body is properly digesting the nutrients you take or eat.

A short outline of the function of each ingredients

Vitamin A as beta carotene. Vitamin A is essential for proper cell growth and also helps produce sebum for the scalp which prevents hair from drying out and breaking.

Vitamin C as ascorbic acid. Vitamin C strengthens hair growth due to its action in helping the body produce collagen, a vital protein for healthy hair.

Vitamin E as d-alpha toco acetate. Vitamin E is well known for its ability to repair and build tissue as well as increase blood flow, boost oxygen supply and repair damaged follicles.

Vitamin B-1 as thiamine mononitrate. Vitamin B1 is known as the beauty vitamin and converts the foods we eat into energy, which helps in protein creation and this enables the hair to grow faster and in better condition.

Vitamin B-2 as Riboflavin. Vitamin B2 is the building block of cells and helps to create perfect cell reproduction every time.

Niaconamide. Niacin is in the B vitamin family and helps nourish the scalp where it helps promote healthy hair growth from the roots. Taking Nicacin can cause an immediate mini flush which is the increased blood flow caused by Niacin opening up the blood capillaries. This ‘flush’ is said to flush out DHT, the enemy in hair loss.

Vitamin B-6 as pyridoxine hydrochloride. Vitamin B6 helps ensure that the cells in your hair follicles have access to the amino acids they need to make hair proteins. Vitamin B6 might also control hair growth because of its effect on hormone activity as it is part of a coenzyme that regulates the function of sex hormones including estrogen and testosterone. Both of these hormones affect the hair and testosterone gets converted into a chemical called DHT that hinders hair growth (which is why Good Hair contains other DHT blockers). Estrogen’s role in hair growth remains elusive but low levels of estrogen associated with menopause can cause hair thinning and loss, so by helping to control hormone signalling in the body, Vitamin B6 might fight hair thinning caused by hormone dysregulation. Folic Acid. Folic Acid is also known as Folate or Vitamin B9 and is well known for its use in foetal development since it is involved in DNA synthesis, cell division and repair, so it is essential in helping all tissues grow in a healthy way.

Biotin. Biotin is also known as Vitamin B7 or H reacts with cell enzymes and encourages the production of amino acids, the building blocks of protein. Hair is keratin, a form of protein so by this process Biotin helps improve and increase the keratin infrastructure of hair. Biotin is widely known as the key vitamin that supports hair and nail growth and to have a direct link to the thickness and strength of hair.

Pantothenic Acid as calcium pantothenate. Pantothenic Acid or B5 is wildly used in the hair industry as Pro-Vitamin B5 and is even said to prevent hair going gray although this is unsubstantiated.

Zinc (amino as acid chelate). Zinc helps regulate hormones and keeps levels of DHT low. A portion of the body’s Zinc is held in the hair follicles and as Zinc is important for so many processes, if there are low levels of Zinc, the body will use the hair supply first.

Copper as amino acid chelate. Copper peptides promote collagen and elastin production and seem to work on the follicle in two ways, increasing follicle cell proliferation and also decreasing programmed cell death. For more information please look here:

Inositol (monophosphate). Inositol is a member of the B vitamin group and is well known as a DHT blocker and its effect on hair is connected to gene expression, ensuring that they reproduce correctly. It also keeps estrogen levels properly balanced and works extremely well with Choline.

Choline (bitartrate). Choline works especially well with Inositol where it combines to provide follicles with phospholipids which are required to create strong stands of hair.

Para-Aminobenzoic acid. Para-Aminobenzoic acid (PABA) is another member of the B vitamins and is part of the Folic Acid molecule and its use is in enabling the use of amino acids as well as being supportive of blood cells. Because of its use in vitiligo, it is also thought to help pigment loss and gray hair.

L-Cysteine. L-cysteine is one of a few amino acids (protein building blocks) that have the ability to make disulphide bonds and is one of the key components to building the all-important hair protein called keratin. L-cysteine is the main set of protein molecules that make up the fibrous filament structure of the hair.

Silica. Silica the vital mineral for our bone growth and as it bonds with many minerals, takes these nutrients to the peripherals of the body, namely the hair, skin and nails giving them strength and vitality.

MSM (Methylsulfonoylmethane). MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) is a nutritional mineral that, as well as providing the nutrients that feed the hair follicles and support the formation of keratin (the actual hair) and collagen (thickens the hair), has been found to naturally increase the length of your hair’s growth phase (anagen) by stimulating scalp circulation. Ginkgo Biloba (24% extract). Ginkgo Biloba is famous in China and has been used for around five centuries for hair thinning and now in the west due to its ability to enhance blood circulation.

Saw Palmetto (25-30% extract). Saw Palmetto (which is well known for boosting the libido) and Pygeum Africanum are potent and natural DHT blockers. Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a by-product of testosterone when it is converted into an enzyme known as Type II 5 alpha reductase. The American Hair Loss Association states that when DHT is suppressed, hair follicles will be able to sustain healthy thick hair.

Green Tea (40% extract). Green Tea is jam packed with polyphenols which are known for their action on supporting healthy hair growth, plus Green Tea has been shown to suppress the TNF-alpha which is involved in causing hair loss. Further information is here:

Grape Seed (5:1 extract). Grape Seed extract also contains high levels of polyphenols but also has proanthocyanidins which also contribute to the mechanisms by which grape seed extract is known to prevent hair loss and encourages hair regrowth.
